About

Thank you for joining me this far & I hope you continue to journey with me.

My yoga is inspired by the landscape in which I live, where the birch woods are set as a backdrop to my daily yoga practise.

I am a registered British School of Yoga Specialist Hatha Yoga Teacher, and I also teach Yin & Vinyasa Yoga. I hold a number of classes & workshops online and in person & I also offer bespoke packages, including individual sessions & retreats.

Uniquely, I am able to combine yoga with sea kayaking or paddle-boarding. There are many places locally to explore by foot and by sea kayak, including the varied and often challenging coastline of the Cromarty Firth and as a Sea Kayak Coach & Mountain Leader, I can help you discover the hidden gems of the Highlands.

Our breath and emotions are connected. Yoga brings awareness and control to our breath patterns, allowing us to notice when our emotions are affecting our breath, and using the breath to calm our emotions. The more you can connect with your breath, the clearer you think. Join me on the mat, all are welcome

Hatha & Vinyasa Yoga

Practicing Hatha yoga, will allow you to develop strength, mindfulness and flexibility over time. There will be extra attention to detail, with verbal assists, helping you to find a little more ease and comfort in your practice.

Create a deeper mind | body connection through yoga poses & breathing exercises. Create opening in the body, relaxation & self discovery. All levels are welcome; no experience necessary.

Individual sessions can be completely tailored to your physical and emotional needs for your own practice. You may have a specific question about your practice; or you may be beginning your yoga exploration; or seeking to find a way back after an injury. Perhaps this is simply the most convenient way for you to have a regular practice.

All classes & sessions end with a deep relaxation, absorbing the benefits of your efforts on the mat.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time than in other styles.

A mindful and relaxing practice, that teaches physical postures. I often incorporate an extended relaxation into these classes; Yoga Nidra  (Sanskrit: योग निद्रा) or yogic sleep is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the "going-to-sleep" stage, typically induced by a guided meditation.

Paddleboard Yoga Class  - currently not running.

Come and join me for some fun on the water. All sessions are limited in numbers (I'm both a paddlesports coach and yoga teacher) & you will need to bring your own kit including board. I will provide an anchor for your board each session, so don't worry about this.

Getting wet is optional, but do dress for the occasion! Wetsuits, dry suits, splits, swimsuit.....layers....depending on the weather. We stay shallow, so kit on dry land is easily accessible. A buoyancy aid should be worn until you drop your anchor and then it’s optional, unless on the windy side!

Location will be weather dependent, but located on the Black Isle.

Sessions are pre bookable weekly at £10 per person. Please email me at taniamackieyoga@gmail.com or DM. I'll use Facebook or possibly a What's App group to communicate with folk.

I'm looking forward to some balancing fun on the water!

Outdoor & Beach Yoga

The Black Isle is home to a myriad of local walks, woods and shores. The Highlands is just beautiful and getting outdoors is important for our wellbeing. In the Scottish Highlands, we do have the added challenge of the weather, however there are the right clothes for everything and layers, woolly hats and leg warmers are definitely 'in' this season. (If they aren't we shall start a trend).

Living by the woods and working from home, I have become more immersed in the sounds of nature and the day to day changing colours of the season. So come and join me as we practice outside and bathe in the sounds of nature.

What do I need?

Clothes for the weather, (layers) and I'm going to rock out the furry snow boots or bare feet depending!

A sense of humour

Always check the class is on before you leave.

You must book in advance as space will be limited and no cash will be taken

You will need to bring your own equipment.

Old clothes - it will potentially be muddy or sandy!

There will be no toilet facilities, so please arrive ready to go to class

Bring your own hand sanitiser

A completed booking form (including health information) before the session if you are new

Please do not book or attend in person if you are feeling unwell, have a continuous cough or fever

Bring a flask if you would like and some chocolate

A camp light / torch / lantern - nothing flammable please (if near dusk)

The class will meet and depending on location, we may have a short walk to warm up. The class will be a fusion of all things yoga and very much responsive to conditions.

The class will run for 1 hour, including arrival and departure

Your cost is £10 per session.

For the session to go ahead, there needs to be a minimum of 3 bookings and there will be a maximum number of mats too, depending on location.

Please note that I am following Yoga Alliance Guidance for local measures in place.
